Psalm 26
Psalm 1-25 |
Ninth Day: Morning PrayerPsalm 44Deus, auribus 1 We have heard with our ears, O God,
How with your hand you drove the peoples out
For they did not take the land by their sword,
You are my King and my God; *
Through you we pushed back our adversaries; *
For I do not rely on my bow, *
Surely, you gave us victory over our adversaries *
Every day we gloried in God, *
Nevertheless, you have rejected and humbled us *
You have made us fall back before our adversary, *
You have made us like sheep to be eaten *
You are selling your people for a trifle *
You have made us the scorn of our neighbors, *
You have made us a byword among the nations, *
My humiliation is daily before me, *
Because of the taunts of the mockers and blasphemers, *
All this has come upon us; *
Our heart never turned back, *
Though you thrust us down into a place of misery, *
If we have forgotten the Name of our God, *
Will not God find it out? *
Indeed, for your sake we are killed all the day long; *
Awake, O Lord! why are you sleeping? *
Why have you hidden your face *
We sink down into the dust; *
Rise up, and help us, *
